[What is FUDAM Coffee Association?]
FUDAM (Fundación Agraria y Ambiental Para el Desarrollo Sostenible) is an organization based in Nariño, Colombia, known for its dedication to sustainable organic farming practices. Established in 2000 by seven small-scale producers, FUDAM now boasts over 300 members. FUDAM focuses on environmental conservation, empowering women in the coffee industry, and engaging younger generations in sustainable agriculture. FUDAM's environmental conservation efforts include the development of natural alternatives and the use of conservation practices that have obtained Fairtrade certification and Rainforest Alliance/UTZ certification.
FUDAM supports its female members not only by providing expertise but also by promoting their participation in the regional coffee industry. By ensuring that coffee produced by female farmers receives fair prices and additional financial incentives, FUDAM promotes the active involvement of women in the industry.
FUDAM aims to implement the best organic farming practices among its members. Even though these methods are labor-intensive and may result in a smaller quantity of coffee produced, FUDAM is committed to protecting the environment and families, and ensuring the well-being of customers worldwide.
